For the San Fran zinesters:

Goteblüd is now open for business! It’s located at 766 Valencia, in San Francisco’s Mission District. There will be a grand opening party May 8th from 7- 9 pm.

They buy/sell vintage fanzines and underground magazines and also have periodic shows related to self-publishing. Store hours are weekends only. Sat/Sun 12-5pm.

For the Pittsburgh zinesters:

From May 8 at 4pm to May 9 at 12am, there will be readings by local luminaries: Artnoose! (Kerbloom!), Dan! (Living in a Dying World), Leanne! (New To Everything), Mary Mack! (Chick Pea), Ocean! (High on Burning Photographs), and out of town special Guest Moe Bowstern! (Xtra Tuf) at the Cyberpunk Apocalypse/off 55th Street, up the hill.

Please join us as we gather to Potluck Feast together, Listen to Excellent Writings and Throw Money at Poor Moe, who had to bail from tour due to injury and is over $700 in the hole. Help Moe return home to Oregon. Bring the Kids! Zine Open Mic!

For the Baltimore zinesters:

D.I.Y. Fest 2009 will be held on May 9 at 2640 St. Paul St. in Baltimore. The D.I.Y. Fest (Do It Yourself Festival) is a day filled with workshops giving you the opportunity to learn a new skill or teach others a skill that you know. Every year’s festival provides self sufficient, low-budget strategies for making stuff and doing things. Learning a new skill can be costly, but the DIY Fest is a free event.

12-15 May I head to Poitiers, France for the 20thbirthday of La Fanziotheque. It is a zine librarian event that I’m representing the Independent Publishing Resource Center the Portland Zine Symposium and I guess Portland Zine culture in general.

    i think that self-publishing is a tedious task because this would reuqire several skills that need to be mastered over time*~*
