Reviewer Guidelines
If you’d like to write reviews for Zine World, send us a note about yourself and include 5 sample reviews, following our review format.
We expect reviewers to give an honest assessment, whether they hated the zine, loved it, or felt ambivalent, while also giving enough of a description of the contents to enable the reviewer to decide for him/herself whether he/she would like it. Reviewers will be assigned zines at random; reviewers are expected to review zines in any genre and of any type. Reviewers are not paid. All reviewers receive a free copy of any issue they contribute to. You must be able to meet assignment deadlines.

Review Guidelines
Your review should be 75 words or less. It’s ok to occasionally have longer reviews, but we ask that you save those for zines that really deserve a long review (positive or negative). Book reviews can be up to 200 words in length.
Your review should give your opinion and (at a minimum) a basic description of the zine. Be descriptive about the issue’s specific contents.
Your review should include all contact and price information listed in the zine or on the zine’s submission form, including mailing address, email, website, single issue prices, subscriber rates, free availability to prisoners, trades, etc.
After the review and contact info, include the page count and size of the zine, followed by how long you spent reading the zine (in minutes). Zine sizes are:
- XS = extra small, smaller than 4”x5.5”
- S = quarter-size, 4”x5.5” or so
- M = digest, 5.5”x8.5” or half-legal
- L = full-size, 8.5”x11” or A1
- XL = tabloid, full-size newspaper, or anything bigger than 8.5”x11”
Please use the following format for your reviews:
Title of Zine #1: “Subtitle.” Your review. Joe Smith, 555 Nowhere Lane, Snails Crossing NM 00000, email@email.com, www.website.com [$1 US, $2 Canada/Mexico, $10 for 12 issues US, or trade 20S :30] –Reviewer
Reviews must be submitted in one of the following document formats:
- Microsoft Word
- RTF
- Google Docs
The editor reserves the right to edit for length, as well as for consistency in language and style.
