An art gallery in San Jose, Calif., is hosting an exhibition of zines. If you want your zine to be included, send a sample copy to Anno Domini, the second coming of Art & Design, Attn: Art of Zines, 366 South First Street, San Jose, CA 95113. Zines need to be in hand at the gallery by Jan. 16. Check out their website for details.
On Thursday, Jan. 14, at 8pm, check out Large, Hairy and Literate: Zinesters and Artists Celebrate Bigfoot at ZAPP (located in the Richard Hugo House, Capitol Hill, Seattle).
“ZAPP presents a group exhibit featuring new work that draws upon both visual and literary interpretations of Bigfoot lore by local artists David Lasky, Kinoko, Kelly Froh, Greg Hofmann and Darin Shuler, among others, in conjunction with Blitz!: Capitol Hill’s Art Walk. In addition to the exhibit, ZAPP will showcase zines and comics from the archive that focus on tales or histories of the Bigfoot phenomenon in the Pacific Northwest. Visitors are encouraged to donate their own Bigfoot zines or comics and are invited to participate in on-site drawing and storytelling.” Email zapp@hugohouse.org for more details.
And lastly, long-time zinester Ciarra Xyerra has decided to shut down Learning to Leave a Paper Trail distro. After announcing that she was shutting it down, her entire stock sold within ~3 days. Check out her blog if you are interested in what she’s up to now!
