What are you doing for International Zine Month? If you’re participating in IZM, check out these awesome badges that Hannah of Frothy zine made. You can download this one and others over at We Make Zines. I personally won’t be travelling to any zine events this summer
but look for other ZW staff at the Portland Zine Symposium.
We had hoped to release Zine World #28 during this month, but alas. Because of computer problems I had earlier this summer, we’ve had to push its release back to August. Our staff are hard at work right now writing up new reviews to cram into this issue.
The good news about the delay is that you still have time to contribute to it! We need your:
Word of Mouth: We are looking for updates on zine review zines & websites and zine libraries, recommendations on distros & stores, tips or resources you can share, reports about recent zine events, address changes, etc. Email info to wordofmouth@undergroundpress.org.
Writing: We need articles and columns on topics of interest to zinesters. Potential topics could include writing, publishing, creativity, DIY, censorship, mail art, free speech-related news, etc. Original content or already published pieces ok. I’m specifically looking for someone to write a piece about free-speech issues around the world. Email jerianne@undergroundpress.org with your ideas.
Artwork: To overcome the inherent textiness of a review zine, we welcome contributed illustrations. If you’d like to join our stable of artists, email art@undergroundpress.org. See our volunteering page for more details.
Advertising: We’ll run your classified ad for any DIY project for free (50 word limit). Send to jerianne@undergroundpress.org. Or get fancy and design your own display ad; rates as low as $15. We’ll also consider ad trades. Email ads@undergroundpress.org for more info.
If you sent me an email and I never responded, please feel free to email me again, in case your note got eaten by computer goblins. –Jerianne
